About RATA
About RATA
Regenerating the relationship between art, nature, and travel.
The Regenerative Art Tourism Association (RATA) is a non-profit organization founded to connect tourism, nature, regional culture, education, and regional revitalization through regenerative art.
We aim to turn travel from a purely consumptive experience into a "regenerative experience" — one in which nature and local communities become better off the more they are visited.
The underwater sculpture project on Tokunoshima and the RATA Pass are part of this practice. Beyond simply viewing artworks, we connect visitors to ocean regeneration, biodiversity, local learning, and the next generation of tourism models.
Mission
Turning travel into a force for regeneration.
RATA builds systems in which tourism does not consume nature and communities, but instead channels visitors' experiences into environmental regeneration and increased regional value.
What We Do
Our Activities
Planning and support for the introduction of regenerative art
Collaboration with artists in Japan and abroad

Our Approach
5 Perspectives
Using art as an entry point, we raise awareness of the natural environment and connect visitors to local stays, learning, and repeat visits. RATA designs projects not as standalone artworks, but as systems that generate ongoing value for local communities.
